Reading

It is essential that children are reading daily. Whilst we read each day in school, we ask that parents and carers support their child in reading each night. This does not have to be a whole book and can also be repeated texts.

Each week, two books will be allocated on Active Learn (Phonics Bug) to access at home alongside interactive games. The books allocated will be based on the what we have covered in Phonics that week. Hard copies of books will also be sent home on a Friday and these need to be returned each Monday to be changed and read with children during that week.

Spellings

Every Friday the children will be tested on their spellings. The spellings will be based on what we have covered in Phonics each week. Spellings will be sent home each half term and are uploaded here for reference. 

Please encourage your child to practice writing and learning their words each week.   

Maths

Throughout Year 1, children will be learning their 2x, 5x and 10x tables and we ask that parents and carers encourage children to practise these at home.
