Welcome to St Richard’s Early Years
During the Early stages of life children grow and develop quickly. When your child begins their learning journey we aim to provide rich and varied opportunities for children to experience and flourish. Our aspiration is that our children become confident, self-motivated learners, with the necessary skills and attitudes to achieve the best possible outcomes in their learning and development.
At St. Richard's we offer places for children aged 2-5 consisting of Wrapround, Nursery and Reception.
Our School Nursery provides 52 part time places for children aged 3 and 4 years. From the age of 3 children are entitled to either the 15 Hour Universal Offer or the 30 Hour Extended Offer of free education/care each week. Working closely with Wraparound, we are able to offer flexible places for our younger children accessing these places. There are also options for Breakfast Club and After School Club.
Play is essential to Early Years Foundation Stage, as such, we implement a mixture of child initiated and adult led activities to ensure our children are exposed to new and interesting experiences, in addition to having a wide variety of opportunities. Our EYFS staff are both experienced and passionate and truly have the children's interests at the forefront of their practice.
Children attending Nursery and Reception benefit from our involvement of weekly SHAREs P.E sessions which help promote their physical development. Furthermore, our children take part in many of the wider school experiences such as, collective worship and praise assemblies, special event days like World Book Day and Sports Day, author visits and live performance pantomime productions. Having these additional opportunities not only allows our children with exciting experiences but also prepares for smooth transitions as they continue their learning journey at St. Richard's.
