Ethos & Values
Our Ethos and Values at St Richard’s
Our Collective Values at St Richard’s are:
Safe Positive environment
- To be a safe, calm, welcoming environment where everyone takes pride in their surroundings.
Positive and Productive Relationships
- To be a happy family community with respectful co-operative relationships.
Teaching and Learning
- To promote excitement in learning through supportive stimulating teaching that is progressive and constantly evolving.
Aesthetic and Spiritual
- To be an inspiring environment with individuals living out the Gospel Values of Jesus.
The staff and governors are strongly committed to building and strengthening the Catholic ethos of our school. This means strengthening and building the outward signs and experiences of the teachings of Christ and the Catholic Church is the totality of the daily life of St Richard’s.
Hence underlying our teaching and relationships are the Gospel Values of:-
Love – Following the example of Jesus by loving our neighbours.
Respect – Listening and valuing other peoples’ feelings and opinions
Joy – Having fun, smiling and enjoying coming to school to see our friends and learn new things.
Compassion – Thinking of others less fortunate than ourselves and doing something practical to help.
Friendship – Working well together to make a strong, happy team gathering together to celebrate successes and special events.
The school strives to build on the foundations of faith started from home, and seeks to provide an environment working alongside home and parish where the beliefs and values of the Catholic faith are taught, explained, developed and nurtured.
St Richard’s is a place where each child believes in their own potential in an environment where they can succeed and achieve.
