Reception 2023-2024
Reception - Spring Term
This term we are learning about Traditional Tales, Growth and Lifecycles. We are looking forward to discovering 'What's in the Egg? We will also have a visit from the farm.
The children are working extremely hard with their phonic knowledge and reading skills. We are focusing on embedding phase 3 and will move onto phase 4.
In Maths we are focusing on number and place value, measurement and shapes.
Reception - Autumn Term
We are spending the first half of the term meeting some of the new children and families that joined us in September and are so proud of how well all the children have settled in. Mrs Lawton, Miss Usher and Miss Halford have loved spending lots of time getting to know the children and encouraging them to explore and share areas of the provision.
We have established a consistent routine and are becoming more independent at choosing lunches each day, learning where to put our belongings and using our trays.
Some of our texts in Autumn are;
Zim, Zam, Zoom (Poetry)
The Body Book (Non-fiction)
The Rainbow Fish (Fiction)
The Gruffalo (Fiction)
Room on the Broom (Fiction)
The Things that I love about Trees (Non-fiction)
Say Hi to Hedgehogs
We were extremely busy with daily activities including; beginning our Phase 2 phonics programme and completing the number of the day. We are also learning about autumn and the seasonal changes, our favourite so far is baking apple crumble. We were really good at listening, following instructions and using equipment safely and carefully.
Lot's of themed and special events are coming up; Spooky week, Bonfire night, Anti-Bullying week, Children in Need and Christmas.
Please check our Class Dojo page for up to date information and pictures of our learning!
