Spellings

Children will be required to learn these spellings for their weekly test. A suggestion to help is to ‘Look, Cover, Write and Check’.   Also, encourage your child to write a sentence which contains the word. Spellings from each weekly list will be given randomly so encourage your child to rehearse the spellings out of order from the relevant list.

It is important that your child uses the correct letter sizing and formation.  Letters must be positioned correctly, i.e. using ascenders and descenders appropriately on/through the line: ascenders: b, d, h, k, l, t.  Descenders: g, j, p, q, y.  The cursive letter ‘f’ is formed with both an ascender and descender.
