Relationships, Sex and Health Education

We are pleased to inform you that the Governing body met and ratified the new RSHE policy for our school.  The policy meets the DfE statutory requirements for the RSHE curriculum.  We have worked alongside the Archdiocese of Liverpool to produce this documentation and design a tailored curriculum suited to the needs of the children in our school community.  To access the policy document, please visit our Policies section.

The Governors at St Richard’s Catholic Primary School have adopted the ‘Journey in Love’ programme to support the non-statutory Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) throughout the school. The programme of study is authentic to the teachings of the Catholic Church.

As part of our continuing commitment to you, we will hold annual meetings for new intakes in the Spring Term.  However, all parents are welcome to attend.

You have the right to withdraw your child from any part of the school’s programme for Relationship and Sex Education, except those elements which are required by the National Curriculum for Science. Parents who may consider this will need to make an appointment with our Headteacher to discuss what such a decision may involve.

If you require any further clarification regarding this aspect of the curriculum please speak to Mrs Sumner (RE Coordinator/Deputy) or Mrs Jackson (Headteacher).  To view our RSHE policy, please see the Policies tab.
