Reception 2022
Welcome to our class page.
This year we are looking forward to continuing our learning journey with our fantastic group of children. We have spent the first half of the term meeting some of the new children and families that joined us in September.
Mrs Lawton, Mrs Zadegan and Miss McCoy have spent lots of time getting to know the children and encouraging them to explore and share areas of the provision. During autumn 1 we established a consistent routine involving getting to know the classroom, making new friends and becoming more familiar with staff. We became very independent at choosing lunches each day, learning where to put our belongings and using our trays.

We planted a Pumpkin
We were extremely busy with daily activities including; beginning our Phase 2 phonics programme and completing the number of the day.
We also loved learning about autumn and the seasonal changes, dressing up for our spooky themed disco, watching a live performance of Snow White and our P.E sessions with Coach Donal.
During autumn 2 we will continue with phase 2 phonics, introducing tricky and high frequency words.
In Maths we will focus on subitising and understanding one more/one less.
In Literacy we will explore a range of texts starting with the non-fiction - Say Hi to Hedgehogs, where we will find out about hedgehogs, animals that hibernate and create animal fact files.
Lot's of themed and special events are coming up; Bonfire night, Anti-Bullying week, Children in Need and an author visit.
It is also time to prepare for the magic of Christmas; we have a special Nativity performance planned and we can't wait to invite our parents in to see our show and attend our Christmas Fayre!
