Ethos & Values

Our Ethos and Values at St Richard’s

Our Collective Values at St Richard’s are:

Safe Positive environment

  • To be a safe, calm, welcoming environment where everyone takes pride in their surroundings.

Positive and Productive Relationships

  • To be a happy family community with respectful co-operative relationships.

Teaching and Learning

  • To promote excitement in learning through supportive stimulating teaching that is progressive and constantly evolving.

Aesthetic and Spiritual

  • To be an inspiring environment with individuals living out the Gospel Values of Jesus.

Our Ethos

The staff and governors are strongly committed to building and strengthening the Catholic ethos of our school.  This means strengthening and building the outward signs and experiences of the teachings of Christ and the Catholic Church is the totality of the daily life of St Richard’s.

The school strives to build on the foundations of faith started from home, and seeks to provide an environment working alongside home and parish where the beliefs and values of the Catholic faith are taught, explained, developed and nurtured.

St Richard’s is a place where each child believes in their own potential in an environment where they can succeed and achieve.

Gospel Values

Each month, a new Christian value is introduced which is our focus for that time. In assemblies and in class a value is explored and children discuss the importance of the selected value. The value is also shared with parents and carers on our school newsletter.

We encourage all pupils to demonstrate the values and love to hear from the children about which values they have seen both inside and outside of school and the ways in which the values have helped them and guided their lives. Children displaying the values are rewarded for their efforts.
