Mini Vinnies

Here at St. Richard`s  we are proud to say we have our very own group of Mini Vinnies.

  • Lead – Mrs Sumner

What are the Mini Vinnies?

Mini Vinnies is part of the Society of St Vincent de Paul. The St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) is an international Christian voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing practical assistance to those in need.

Mini Vinnies' are children aged between 7 to 11 (or younger) who are encouraged to embark on their first steps as possible 'Vincentians for life'. Our Mini Vinnies at St.Richard`s get together once a week to organise and talk about helping others in need within their school community and beyond.

As Mini Vinnies, the children are  striving to be more like St. Vincent. He was caring, generous and looked to the glory of God for strength and perseverance. St Vincent had other’s best interests at heart. He is a great example of a person following in Jesus’ footsteps.

Serving Others

Our Mini Vinnies try to follow the example of St.Vincent by serving others. They led fundraising and charity work in our school and encourage others to give generously. They pray together each week and meet to discuss ways we can help others.

So far this year the Mini Vinnies have helped to prepare food hampers for the local food bank and made Christmas cards for the residents of local care homes.
